Sian Ka’an is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, which is why the region became a designated Biosphere Reserve in 1986 and it’s considered a sublime area of natural beauty by the thousands of travelers that comer here every year.
In 1987, it was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
