Karlita’s Kitchen cooking class is a unique opportunity to spend a few hours with Karlita to learn the essentials of how to prepare authentic Mexican dishes.

Karlita was born and raised in the cultural and culinary center of Mexico, Michoacán. Her passion for food, and dedication to quality has earned her an excellent reputation for creating delicious, authentic dishes, using fresh, natural ingredients.

This is a must-do unique experience if you want to have fun and learn from a master of traditional Mexican cuisine. Spaces are very limited and sell out early, so make sure to book well in advance.

Classes are held in a private outdoor garden patio with excellent ventilation. We have reduced class size to a maximum of 4 for adequate distancing. And all expected sanitary and safety measures can be counted on at Karlita’s Kitchen.

The class takes place in a private home just a three minute taxi ride from the port.

You will spend approx. 3 delightful hours with Karlita learning about essentials of a Mexican kitchen, how to use different chili peppers, what it takes to make mouth-watering salsas, and finally prepare your own dish.

This is a hands-on experience. You will have your own cooking station and will select the dish of your choice to prepare and enjoy at the end of the class.

Vegetarians are welcome. Let me know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.

Sample Menu

• Salsas – Salsas are essential to Mexican cooking. This class focuses on making a variety of salsas, and the use of different chili peppers to control heat.
• Guacamole – Tips from a master that will take your best guacamole recipe over the top.
• Enchiladas Placeras – A traditional Mexican dish so easy and delicious it may well become a regular at your own dinner table.
• Pescadillas – A quick and crispy Caribbean favorite made with fresh fish. An easy and delicious creation that can be served as a snack, a main dish or for parties.
• Chilaquiles – For morning classes, a traditional Mexican breakfast dish. Cheese, cream, onions and fried egg on a bed of tortilla chips bathed in salsa verde.
• Dessert/ Postre – No Mexican meal is complete without a postre, and if you know Karlita, you know she knows desserts!
