Pass By: Merida, Merida, Yucatan Peninsula
Come and enjoy this small group discovery of the history of S Merida, the largest Yucatan city, was founded back in 1542, and you’ll encounter many historic attractions that date back to that time.
We meet you at the cruise pier to match your cruise ship porting time and head to the centro historico district. The professional guide will show you different colonial residences and structures that line the streets; these buildings lie in different states of disrepair and provide a glimpse at the history of the area, which has seen its share of revolts.
Other highlights of the tour include the Cathedral de San IIdefonso, Montejo’s House and the Government Palace. These structures date as far back as the late 1500s, so you can see how the city’s architecture progress over the centuries. You’ll also stop by the Main Square with your guide and hear anecdotes about the city’s culture. There will also be some time to do some shopping in the area.
