The main sacred area of the city lies on top of another pre-existed city that time era is unknown. The massive main building of Kukulkan also known as The Castle excels the ancient city and is the one voted and selected as a new wonder. In this particular influences of The Toltecs Civilization can be observed all over. You’ll also visit the colonial town of Valladolid. Here you will learn the history of the town and its main landmark; The Cathedral of San Gervasio; and Admire its beautiful architecture, located in the main square of the town it was built by priest Francisco Hernandez on March of 1545. Couple of centuries later It was demolished by Bishop Pedro De Los Rios Reyes after been desecrated during the event called “The Crime Of Mayors.” It was restored again in the beginning of the 1700’s to the way we see it now. Since the old Cathedral was tainted a new orientation was given to this new one, this time facing not towards Rome as most colonial temples are, but to the North instead.
