Surrounded by the mountains and agave fields, and known for being the origin of mezcal, at the village of Santiago Matatlan we will stop in a hundred percent traditional mezcal distillery managed by the fifth generation of mezcal masters, with their ancestral knowledge they have achieved the production of a premium quality mezcal. On this part of the tour we will find a totally rustic process and some author recipes which included tasting will be part of the experience.

Stop At: Tlacolula, Tlacolula, Southern Mexico
A visit to this town will be the chance to experience the real oaxacan culture, with a majority of indigenous-zapotec population Tlacolula it’s got one of the most vibrant and picturesque markets in the region, it’s colors, aromas and flavours make it an ideal stop for lunch in a very authentic and tasty way.

In Santa Maria del Tule we will visit a small kitchen in a family owned business. They makes tortillas and tacos with the ancestral nixtamal masa and clay comal techniques. We will learn about that and how make our own tortilla and try the freshest taco ever! Plus that this village it’s known for a natural wonder, there we will find one of the oldest and thickest trees on earth.
