Founded in the Alvarado House of 1700, the National Sound Library of Mexico, originally established as the Carlos Chávez National Center for Musical Research, Documentation and Information, its objective was to preserve and disseminate the country’s musical heritage. In 2008, it became the National Sound Library, expanding its scope to include all types of sound recordings. Our Nobel Prize in Literature Octavio Paz lived the last two years of his life here, who also died in this emblematic place. With educational activities, cultural events and its beautiful sound garden, it is a vibrant place where music comes to life and Mexico’s sound heritage is celebrated. It is a beautiful example of the architecture of the area.
