This walking tour is not very strenuous, there are no hills to cover and the distance is quite minimal in total. For anyone who gets tired, there are plenty of places to stop and rest along the way, as even the fittest of us can suffer the effects of Mexico City’s elevation.

Alfonso Reyes Avenue.
We will begin our walking tour, with a delicious coffee, if you wish.

After a drink of coffee to wake you up, head to the corner of Alfonso Reyes and Tamaulipas streets. This church is known for its beautiful ancient architecture.

Michoacan Market
Head northeast along Avenida Tamaulipas and travel three blocks. Passing Avenida Vicente Suárez you will find the market on the corner of Tamaulipas and Avenida Michoacán.

Mazatlan Avenue
Mazatlán Avenue is a wide stretch of roads with a beautiful central pedestrian promenade

“The Countess”
We will walk northwest along Mazatlán Avenue towards Juan de la Barrera for about three blocks. Just after Juan de la Barrera you will see an old apartment complex painted white and green.

Veracruz Avenue
Continuing with our walking tour, we prepared to walk along Veracruz Street.

Beautiful park

Amsterdam Avenue
The central corridors lined with large trees are some of the most lush pedestrian avenues in the city.

Citlaltepec Square
At the southernmost point of Ámsterdam Avenue is Plaza Citlaltepec.

Mexico Park
From the park, head north on Citlaltépetl Street, for one block, to the southeast corner of the large Parque México.

Walking one block further north along Avenida México, you come to a roundabout, marked with a large fountain. This is Popocatépetl Square. Here we can continue to appreciate the different architecture of the area and more food places during the tour. And here our walking tour ends.
