What makes Izamal: The Magic Yellow Town – Private Full Day Tour from Merida a unique experience ?

Our professional staff will be ready to take you to one of the most amazing cities in the Yucatan Peninsula, located just 1 hour away from the city of Merida, we are talking about the yellow town of Izamal. Come with us to have one of the best experiences on your trip to Mexico.
The fifth convent to be erected in the present-day state of Yucatan, Mexico, is the Convent of San Antonio de Padua, which is situated in Izamal (etymology: Itzmal: Dew of the sky), Yucatan. It was constructed between 1549 and 1561.
Archeological zone:
We will not only visit the beautiful downtown of Izamal with its gorgeous yellow constructions, but we will also visit 3 pyramids located right within the city: Itzamatul Pyramid + Kinich Kakmó Pyramid + Hun Pik Toc Pyramid.
Izamal originally belonged to the Mayas, but once the Spaniards took it, many Spanish constructions were built on top of existing Mayan pyramids. One example of this is The San Antonio de Padua Convent, which was built on top of a Mayan building using its rocks and more elements. This was very common within cities that were conquered by Europeans. They used to do this to evangelize Mayans and convert them to catholicism.
After the visit to the city and the Mayan pyramids, we will take you to the Cultural Center Museum, the Izamal Square, and a jewelry handcraft workshop. We want you to know the culture of Izamal´s people, their traditions, their history, and their identity through every step of the tour. This is the best plan for you to get to know absolutely everything about this lovely city. You will have with you the knowledge of the tourist guide, the experience of the bus driver and have an experience like no other.
We’ll also make a 1-hour stop for lunch at the Kinich Restaurant.
The last part of the tour will be to take you safe and sound back to your hotel in Merida or here in Izamal. Enjoy the short ride and let us know if you need anything. We will be happy to help you with anything you need.
