Stop At: Biblioteca Palafoxiana, Av 5 Ote 5, Puebla 72000 Mexico
On September 5, 1646, Bishop Palafox y Mendoza donated his personal library, composed of five thousand volumes, to the seminarians of the Tridentine colleges, ordering that it could be consulted by anyone who wanted to read or study, for which it is considered the first public library in the Americas.
Since then, it was established in the former College of San Juan, in the heart of the city of Puebla.
Named in 1981, Historical Monument of Mexico for its beautiful emblem of the baroque Novohispano emblem; and in 2005, included by UNESCO as part of the Memory of the World program for its bibliographic collection of old collections; the Palafoxiana Library is today a museum of books and continues its work as a universal library. In addition, it has a Play Room to disseminate librarian arts among children.

It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and is the seat of the Archdiocese of Puebla. Its construction dates back to 1539 but it was not until 1690 that it acquired the shape and size it has today. It is of Herrerian style, with Renaissance facades and Baroque interiors. Today, it is considered one of the most beautiful in the world for the many treasures of its interior.
Its two towers, flanking the Puerta del Perdón, are among the highest in the country. Inside, there is the Altar of the Kings, the sumptuous Baldaquino or Cypress, the altar of forgiveness and the choir of magnificent stalls, the three organs, the paintings of Miguel Cabrera in the Via Crucis, the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and the Sacristy, where they guard authentic treasures of religious art.
Currently on the main facade are projected on weekends, the videomapping “Mosaicos Poblanos”, which consists of a show that shows different stages of the history of the State, gastronomy, talavera, textiles and popular festivals.

The Zócalo is located in the heart of the historical center of the city of Puebla, surrounded by shops, restaurants, the Cathedral of the city, the Town Hall, cafes, etc. Before being called the Zócalo, the area was known as the Plaza de Armas, because if during a battle the enemy dominated it, it could control the rest of the city from it.
In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the theatrical performances and other leisure activities were carried out in the Zócalo, even though its design was different, the fountain was on one side to carry out bullfights. In 1869 the current garden was started and from 1872 to 1883 the iron benches were placed.
The Zócalo continues to be the cultural, political and religious center of the city of Puebla. Concerts and other cultural activities are often organized. On weekends it is full of tourists, vendors, people sitting on benches, either reading or simply resting and enjoying a pleasant time.

The sumptuous decoration based on onyx, gilded plasterwork, paintings and tiles covered with 22 carat gold plates, make the chapel a unique building of its kind, which has been considered the eighth wonder of the new world and named as “reliquary” of America “by Pope John Paul II in 1979.
The sides of the nave contain 6 canvases by José Rodríguez Carnero, with the scenes of the joyful mysteries of the Rosary.
It was the first Chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary that was built in Mexico, as a sign of the great devotion to the rosary of the Dominicans also professed to teach the faithful to pray, promoting visual art to educate the people.

Also called Calle de Santa Clara, because there is the old convent of Clarisas nuns, who since the 18th century elaborate delicious eggnog, sweets and cookies, in different forms and presentations that combine recipes and ingredients.
Among the most representative sweets of the state are the sweet potato, the pancakes of Santa Clara and the muégano.
Currently, along this street there are numerous shops that offer the popular sweets and make known the Puebla tradition of craft work, domestic creativity and conventual imagination.

It is an attractive corner with a baroque fountain adorned with sculptures, where you can take a pleasant walk to know the workshops of painters and artists who work in public view.
This bohemian neighborhood of Puebla is perfect for a pleasant walk or sitting in a cafe to look at the colorful atmosphere of the street.
During your walk you will find the bronze monuments of José Márquez Figueroa and the authors of the song “Qué chula es Puebla”, Rafael Hernández and Bernardo San Cristóbal.

It occupies the old square of San Roque, which was built in 1801. Considered the first handicraft market in the city of Puebla, since 1961 occupies the facilities of what was formerly the market called El Parián. Located on the 6th Street of the Historic Center, the market is mostly covered with talavera tiles, very typical of Puebla style.
Currently, the place has a total of 112 stores, which sell the most varied crafts that are produced in different regions of the state, such as talavera, typical sweets, miniatures, embroidery, glass, clay objects , textiles, works in popotillo, among others.

The square of the toads is surrounded by typical colonial houses where you can see a great diversity of beautiful gates and balconies on their facades.
Currently these constructions are occupied by antique bazaars, restaurants and bars.
On Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am there is a tianguis that has become a traditional walk, where you can find many antiques, handicrafts, objects of art and numismatics.
You can make a stop at the famous La Pasita bar and try the liquor of the region, or visit one of the typical food restaurants.
