After meeting at your hotel in the morning, we will get a taxi to Tonala, where we will observe highly refined ceramic techniques in a 5th-generation family-owned workshop. We’ll also visit the mercado to get a glimpse of the town’s traditional and authentically Mexican barrio culture.

After 1.5 hours in Tonala we will get a taxi to Tlaquepaque, where we will walk for 1-2 hours in the Independencia Corridor: a charming pedestrian street lined up with old mansions now turned into boutiques, museums and galleries, home to a wide variety of goods and crafts such as textiles, blown glass, furniture, pottery, leather goods and more!

Lastly, we will taste the local cuisine while drinking refreshing tequila cocktails in Jalisco’s most traditional and vibrant restaurant: El Parian. After our experience you will gain a deeper understanding of Mexico’s artistic culture.

Stop At: Tonala, Tonala, Guadalajara Metropolitan Area

We will walk in the municipal market and plaza of Tonala where we will get to admire a great variety of local food products and handcrafts. If you wish, we can have breakfast at the market. We will also visit the local church and city hall to learn about the town’s history and indigenous ancestry. Finally, we will visit the workshop of the Bernabe family to admire one of the most refined ceramic techniques in the world.

Independencia street: vibrant pedestrian street lined with boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, markets, museums and eclectic and novo-hispanic architecture. We will also visit the art galleries of renowned local artists such as Sergio Bustamente, Agustin Parra and Rodo Padilla.

El Parian was originally a 19th-century market. Nowadays, is a group of 18 restaurants and cantinas around a central gazebo where you will enjoy local drinks and live mariachi music!
