Why choose this tour ?
If you’re visiting Guadalajara, you should know that one of Mexico’s most beloved little towns is right on its doorstep! Tlaquepaque is one of the nation's cherished "magic pueblos," recognized for its history, charm, and for a unique mix of antiquity and modernity. With a long history of national fame as the home of artisans who have produced some of the finest craftsmanship Mexico has to offer, Tlaquepaque presents a storybook like backdrop to a seemingly endless selection of shops in which to browse. Local pride in the history and culture is on display everywhere, in abundant works of public art, and especially on weekends when street performances of traditional music and folkloric dancing are common. Our walking tours are the perfect introduction to a town that has played an outsized role in the country’s history. Between the airport and Guadalajara’s historic center, we are 25 minutes from both, so a visit makes for a perfect day trip.

What makes Tlaquepaque Half-Day Walking Tour a unique experience ?
The main attractions of our beloved magic pueblo are all found within approximately 10 square blocks of El Parián, Tlaquepaque's former marketplace and now most famous landmark. Our walking tour starts there, and we then visit beautiful and restful Hidalgo Garden. We walk to the nearby Parish and Sanctuary, and then to El Refugio, once a hospital and now the town's cultural center and the site of exhibits. Its history is fascinating. Finally we stroll down Independence (Walking) Street, a favorite destination for multi-generational Mexican families. We take its galleries, impressive sculptures , and historic buildings. We´ll go into the Regional Ceramics Museum where you can see the work of some of the potters who have made Tlaquepaque internationally famous for its artisanal excellence. Our last stop is at the three-story sprawling market, where you can refresh yourself with traditional favorite food and drink, and see dozens of stalls selling a wide variety of handcrafts.
