Day 1: Durango-Mapimí-Ojuela

Stop At: Durango, Durango, Northern Mexico
Departure from Durango: It is known for its historic center, with important Mexican and colonial baroque buildings. In 1695 construction began on the ornate Cathedral Basilica, which has sacred art and wood carvings inside. The 450 City Museum, in a converted palace, has exhibits tracing the history of the city. Bebeleche is a modern museum with interactive exhibits on science and culture.

Breakfast in the magical town of Mapimí: its tasty cuisine that includes chicharrón with nopales, pork with zucchini and corn, lentil soup and many other dishes.

Visit to the Casa Juárez Museum and the historic center of Mapimi: The historic center of this Duranguense town stands out for its noble antiquity: more than 400 years of history that allow us to contemplate the wonders of this mining community. The admirable architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries is evident in the building that was the headquarters of the Department of Commerce, as well as that of the Postal Service and the Temple of the Lord of Mapimí, built in 1772 in a Gothic style. Its pantheon is fascinating because of the tombs that exist there of foreigners who worked in the mines and the legends related to the place, such as Los Cuatro de a Caballo and Los Ladrones de Ojuela.

Visit to the bridge and Mine of Ojuela: Ojuela is an abandoned town located in Durango, Mexico, which is nestled between two large hills, where a mine was located and the place where its workers lived, which was later abandoned.
Ojuela is located just 15 minutes east of Mapimí, along a cobbled and dirt road, it is at the northern end of the state of Durango, approximately one hour from Torreón and Gómez Palacio.

Arrival at the Zona del Silencio natural park: The Zona del Silencio is an area located in the central part of the Bolson de Mapimí. The Zone of Silence is located between Durango, Chihuahua and Coahuila, between parallels 26º and 28º. Its name comes from the urban myth that radio waves cannot be transmitted in the place in a normal way.
