This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Join Elsa, Marcela, and Andrea for a meal at their family dining table. They cook authentic Puebla-style dishes that feature seasonal, local produce. They have a greenhouse where they grow organic strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes, herbs, peppers and chilies which might be used in your meal. Join your hosts in their quaint kitchen for a hands-on cooking lesson. You will learn to make 2-3 typical Mexican dishes which will be served with additional dishes that have been prepared in advance. You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours.

• homemade pico de gallo con chicharrón – (fresh tomato, onion and chile salsa with fried pork belly served on a tortilla)
• mole poblano – (a thick dark sauce made of chiles, chocolate, banana, raisins, nuts, and tomatoes, blended with spices and served over chicken)
• a fresh soup such as crema de calabaza (cream of zucchini)
• an de elote con rajas a la crema – (homemade cornbread with mild peppers cooked in cream)
• cemitas – (a sandwich of a breaded meat cutlet, cheese, avocado, and chiles served on a special Pueblan bread topped with sesame seeds)
• camote (slowly stewed sweet potatoes cooked in raw sugar)
