Named Black Star in Mayan, the ruins of Ek Balam boast some of the best-preserved sculptures and buildings of the Mayan civilization. The site is less-known than others in the area, making it ideal for a more personal experience away from the crowds.

Climb the main structure which houses an amazing tomb, thought to be the tomb of the rulers of Ek Balam. Its entrance is beautifully decorated and features a jaguar’s mouth, complete with teeth! From the top you can see the neighboring sites of Chichen Itzá and Coba and the lush jungle that surround them.
