What to Expect When Visiting Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico
At Claudia´s Mexican cooking classes you will discover the essence and secrets of our traditional homemade specialties, their ingredients and origins, and the way to prepare them.
A day-long cooking experience in Cancún with Chef Claudia will allow you to learn about Mexican Culture in a fun, relaxing, professional way, including hands-on participation.
1. You will be received 9:30 a.m. to meet each other and to have Mexican Coffee and pastries, on the outdoor terrace.
2. Everyone goes in the kitchen/classroom specially furnished for the classes. With 12 spaces and a mirror so every one can see the food preparation. Hands on is optional to those who want to participate.
Listen to an explanation of the different Mexican gastronomic regions, their ingredients, their food, their customs and traditions. The day`s menú is prepared throughout the morning by the chef and those willing to participate. During this time appetizers are prepared and tasted along with Mexican “fruit punch”, beer, and tequila.
3. Between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm the menú is finished and every one goes out again to the terrace to enjoy lunch of what was cooked throughout the day.
Sample Menu
• Sopa de Lima – Mexican Lime Soup is a bit like Tortilla Soup but with Yucatan lime and some other unique regional flavors
• Cochinita Pibil / Pork Pibil – Typical dish from the Yucatan Peninsula. Marinated in achiote paste and slow cooked.
• Panuchos with shredded chicken – A little tortilla filled with beans and served with shredded chicken, red onion, tomatoes and avocado
• Refried beans – Side dish
• Mexican Rice – Side dish
• Tamales – Side dish
• Red salsa, green salsa, salsa Xnipec – Garnish
