After that, we will climb 14115 feet to Pikes Peak Summit. Then you will take a scenic drive back into Denver.

The Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak are two of the most famous attractions in Colorado, and we’ve packed them into a single tour. You get to explore the giant red rock formations in this National Natural Landmark during your picnic lunch before you ride the Cog Railway to the highest summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at 14,115 feet. Be prepared for communal, conversational seating (meaning opposing rows face each other, typical of train travel). For taller guests, that means you may be knocking knees a bit. To ride comfortably, we recommend that you strategically sit across from a short person. You're certainly not required to chat with the people across from you, even if you came together. But who knows! You might make a friend and have some laughs or a fun "small world" moment. We love those!

We offer plenty of chances to get out of the vehicle and stretch your legs. Additional stops can be requested for photo opportunities, wildlife spotting, and extra restroom breaks. Departure from the hotel at 9:00 am towards the parish of Camacha to observe the wicker factory and all its process. Afterwards, climb to Pico do Areeiro at 1818m, where you can observe the beautiful mountains and surrounding valleys and even the parish of Curral das nuntas, deep in one of the great valleys. Descent to Ribeiro Frio, where there is a nursery of trout that later are dropped in the brook. A visit to the center of Santana is followed to observe the typical triangular houses with thatched roof, followed by another stop in Faial. Returning to Funchal, you will have two more stops, at the belvedere of Ponta de São Lourenço and Machico. Return to the hotel by 5:00 p.m.

My tours are all private and clients have the ability to customize the tour. In addition I have my commercial insurance and am certified by the state of Colorado. Next a walk and drive through Garden of the Gods where you will see many different colorful collections of sandstone rock formations.  There are many unique formations and many of the them have names such as the  Kissing Camels and the Cathedral Spires because the formations resemble such objects.   Continuing on, we will stop in the charming town of Manitou Springs for a quick bite to eat and a few minutes of window shopping. Futhermore, you may sample water from the natural outdoor delicious water fountains. From Maitou Springs we will drive up Pikes Peak Mountain to an elevation of 14,105 feet where we gaze over the mountain ranges and see why Katherine Lee Bates wrote the lyrics to America the Beautiful as she took in the sights from the summit of this gorgeous mountain. After a great day we head back to Demver.

Snow, ice on the road, high wind gusts, low visibility, and other factors determine how much of the Pikes Peak Highway will be open at any given moment. This tour will go as far as we are safely permitted to do so. If the summit is closed (which can happen frequently during the months of Nov.-Apr.), we add the following: Garden of the Gods, Gold Camp Road, or Cheyenne Canyon to the tour. ***

Once we finish breakfast, we will head out to the top of the mountain in our 15-passenger vans! Your bike ride begins at the summit of Pikes Peak (14,115 feet) where you can take photos and enjoy the breath-taking 360 degree view of Colorado for as far as the eye can see! As we work our way down this majestic mountain, you will be in awe watching the scenery change as you bike through five separate climactic life zones! Don’t worry though, they won’t pass by without plenty of stops for pictures along the way! This unforgettable journey is designed for most abilities – some biking experience is required. Embark on a full-day adventure exploring the Western Lake District’s hidden gems and captivating scenery. Drive over Wrynose Pass, with its steep, winding route and spectacular views. Your driver-guide will share fascinating insights as we navigate one of Britain’s steepest mountain roads. Then, prepare for the legendary Hardknott Pass, another of Britain’s most challenging roads. Along the route, you’ll pass Hardknott Roman Fort, perched 1,000 feet up on the fells. After descending into the Eskdale Valley, you’ll arrive at Muncaster Castle, where a delicious lunch awaits.
