The fantastic peaks walk you will definitely not want to miss before going back home. On a clear day, or when walking above the clouds, you can take in all the superb views of the highest mountains. There will be some tunnels along the way, flash lights will be provided. We will end at the Achadas do Teixeira were our bus will await to transport back to the Hotel.

Our Pickups begins bright and early, with pickups starting from 5:30 a.m. in summer and 6.am in winter seasons, We'll pick you up from your location and transfer you to Pico do Areeiro. After enjoying the awe-inspiring sunrise, we'll arrange a pickup at the other end, allowing you to hike at your own pace. You'll start your hike from PICO DO AREEIRO to PICO RUIVO carkpark at Achada da Taxeira. Once you've completed your hike, will be waiting to transport you back to Funchal, ensuring a comfortable and convenient return journey. This walk starts at Pico do Areeiro, at approximately 1818 meters above sea level and we make our way to the highest point of Madeira, Pico Ruivo, around 1861 meters. It is possible to witness panoramic views of Madeira over the central mountain range that are absolutely breathtaking. This is the only known breeding site in the world of Zino’s petrel (Pterodroma madeira), an endemic species considered to be the most endangered seabird of Europe. In this area, the vegetation of altitude is predominant, mainly of Centenary endemic Urzes; these large trees predate Madeira’s discovery. To reach Pico Ruivo, we must go around Pico das Torres up a steep incline of steps carved in the rock and then descend, the most difficult part of this trail being the final climb to the Shelter at Pico Ruivo. But the thought of reaching the highest point of the island is a driving force. Near the Pico Ruivo shelter, we take footpath, which leads to Achada do Teixeira, where we finish our journey.

Our motto is that the customer chooses what they want to see and when! We do the walk leisurely and in small groups! At Teixeira Achada We started the walk at night. The stars are our guides! From here we follow the fantastic trail to Pico Ruivo. After watching the sunrise we took one of the most beautiful walks in Madeira to Pico Ruivo (PR1) 11km 6am

A profusion of unique plants make this place their natural habitat. In springtime these plants proudly dress themselves in a myriad of colours, displaying their fragile flowers for all to see. Near Pico Ruivo we walk through the oldest heather forest in existence. These ancient trees are many hundreds of years old and were already there when Zarco discovered and landed on the island for the first time. We soon arrive at Pico Ruivo (the highest point on the island) and the views from there are out of this world. Truly and as the saying goes "On a clear day you can see forever".

You can see the wonderful landscapes composed by imposing mountains and peaks of the island, such as Pico das Torres and Pico do Areeiro. Moreover, in this landscape full of mountains, sea and populations, it is still possible to distinguish the rock of Penha dÁguia and the tip of São Lourenço. Arriving at Pico Ruivo, hikers can marvel themselves with the magnificent scenery that surrounds them. Look at the magnitude of the peaks, the villages and their agricultural land, sea and clouds.
