The 5-star rated small-group Colorado River kayak & Emerald tour is operated less than 1-hour self-drive from the Las Vegas Strip. Departing at 7, 9 & 10 am & 12.30 pm. This 4-mile tour along Black Canyon is suitable for all skill levels/ages and will be at a relaxed pace with no more than 12 people in your group. On your trip, you’ll see caves, stunning scenery and you may even spot big horn sheep or an eagle. We have the most experienced guides on the river that will keep you safe and entertained throughout the trip with historic facts. With stops to rest/swim and we provide snacks. Our guided trips are in 6-person paddle rafts making for big fun. The section of Colorado River is a beautiful section of class II whitewater. This is an area where many motion pictures and commercials have been filmed over the years. John Wayne and John Ford filmed a lot of old westerns in this area. Most recently filmed in this area was The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp & Armie Hammer (2013).

This section of the Colorado River offers scenic views including meadows, valleys, rolling ranch lands, and steep canyon walls and wildlife including ducks, geese, bald eagles, deer, beavers, and big horn sheep — always something fun to see. Downstream of the national park, the river character intensifies through the famed and Class 5 “Gore Canyon”, and then below the river gentles. This wonderful Colorado River float trip is a gently flowing section that is inviting to all ages. This trip departs from our Kremmling Outpost, where you will check in and load an AVA vehicle for the 30-minute drive to the Colorado River. You’ll spend most of your time floating, with a few Class II rapids to cool you off along the way.
